Assistant Collections Manager: Storage and Moves
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Collection Services Department within a rapidly modernising and world-renowned setting. As Assistant Collections Manager: Storage and Moves working within the most popular tourist attraction in the UK you will work as part of a project team to photograph, pack and move our European ceramic collection.
Key areas of responsibility:
• To observe best practice in all aspects of object handling and collections storage
• To facilitate the movement and packing of objects across the collections
• To maintain and update essential object documentation, including location information
• To follow Integrated Pest Management procedures
• To assist with collections audits
• To observe health and safety standards for activities and equipment
• To monitor security of objects and to maintain them in good condition in storage and in transit.
• To drive the Museum van as required
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will have good general education including GCSEs or equivalent with a demonstrable interest in the Museum’s collections. You will have manual dexterity, excellent IT skills and an understanding and appreciation of materials and objects. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to work well as part of team as well as being self-motivated and able to use your own initiative.
