Call to Canadian Artists, Canada 150 Participatory Art Projects, Deadline: Oct 31

Present Voices: Canadians Sharing Stories Through Participatory Art

To mark the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation, The Works International Visual Arts Society is calling for three participatory art projects that actively build community and tell the complex story of Canada’s people and places.

Application Deadline is Monday, October 31, 5 PM MST, 2016.

——

Artworks will be presented during The Works Art & Design Festival, June 22 – July 4, 2017 and may include community outreach in the form of workshops or other engagement during the festival, or in the months leading up to the festival. This call is open to all Canadians.

To ensure diverse representation, demographics of the artists will be considered in the selection process; we encourage indigenous, recent immigrant, woman-identified and francophone Canadians to apply.

——

Selected artists and curators must have experience involving community in the creation process.

Selected projects will meet the following objectives:
• Involve active and authentic engagement with the public
• Be accessible to diverse participants and engage diverse communities
• Invite meaningful contributions from participants
• Include storytelling that inspires reflection on present day Canada

See the application form for full details and submission guidelines
