A new and exciting opportunity has come up at the Design Museum for a Chief Curator to play a key role in shaping and delivering the forthcoming programme of exhibitions at the Design Museum Kensington.
As the world’s leading museum dedicated to contemporary design and architecture, the Chief Curator is a senior member of the Exhibitions team at the Design Museum. The Chief Curator will work with the Director and Head of Exhibitions to research and develop exhibition proposals for the future programme of exhibitions. S/he will have responsibility for delivering audience focused and critically acclaimed exhibitions and displays that demonstrate best practice for interpretation, publishing, and in harnessing digital engagement.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and an advocate for design and architecture on behalf of the Design Museum. They will need to demonstrate that they can command the respect of the wider design and architecture community, based on solid experience in curating successful exhibitions, and that they have the ability and commitment to engage a wide range of audiences, They will need the depth of understanding of the subject to make an original contribution to critical debate.
The role will be based at our Shad Thames offices but the post holder will also be required to work at the Kensington office as and when necessary.
