Collection Research Coordinator – Tate Britain
Deadline: September 16, 2013
Established in 2006, our Research department aims to help realise the scholarly potential of work undertaken at Tate and with external partners. It leads and supports research activity in a wide range of subject areas as well as managing a range of research projects. This is a great chance to join an enthusiastic and innovative team in a flexible part-time role where you’ll be shaping the production and publication of new knowledge and ideas about works in our collection.
You’ll oversee the delivery and preparation of research-related projects and materials about our artworks, helping to improve their clarity and quality. This will involve everything from commissioning freelance writers to produce summaries, editing copy and providing feedback to commissioning academic authors to produce In Focus projects and writing scholarly texts yourself. You’ll also maintain clear records, source digital assets and act as a point of contact for queries.
We need someone who combines a strong sense of what the public needs to know with an in-depth knowledge of art historical research and scholarship in modern and contemporary art. Excellent writing and editing skills, the ability to deal with academics on equal terms and a high level of IT literacy will be essential. You’ll also need experience of editing and preparing scholarly texts.
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract of 3 years.
