Creative Curator for Innovative New Museum
This is a unique opportunity for an imaginative, creative, experienced Curator to join our client’s London-based team that is currently creating a new kind of museum.
Our client is developing an innovative new concept with an exceptional team of award-winning creators and subject-matter experts from around the world. When it launches in 2017 this new visitor experience in New York will engage, entertain, educate and empower its audience across both physical and digital channels.
The successful candidate will bring innovative ideas to life and work with the architects and design teams to create credible, exciting exhibits. As the chief ‘storyteller’ they will ensure that these exhibitions are engaging and accurate whilst being contemporary and relatable across audiences.
During the pre-opening phase curatorial best practices should be implemented and used to help establish and build the collections. Beyond opening, the Curator will be responsible for ensuring that the visitor experience remains relevant in a world where the chosen topics are evolving and in the news daily. Developing and implementing strategies to keep core content current and encourage repeat visits, and also help to create temporary exhibitions is an important aspect of the role.
The Curator will also be an integral member of the senior team, contributing to the strategic development of the organisation as it grows.
In addition to great storytelling skills, 5 years+ experience in a curatorial role and a relevant degree (or equivalent) you would ideally have also have practical experience of :
handling objects, documenting and researching, interpretation, collections care, loans and collections management, public programming, outreach, and events, budget management and relevant IT skills.
Salary negotiable based on profile and experience.
