Since Tate Modern opened in 2000, its programme of major temporary exhibitions, collection displays, commissions, live performance, and film has developed in diversity, scope and profile. In 2016 Tate Modern opened the Blavatnik Building increasing the scope and breadth of the exhibition and collection displays to support its ambitions to be the most artistically adventurous and culturally inclusive global art museum.

This exciting position offers the chance to manage and develop the “social model” at Tate Modern, including a central role in the development of the policy and strategy and co-ordination of aspects of the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the programmes. The post will be primarily based at Tate Modern but will involve working in community contexts with some evening and weekend working.

As an experienced curator with proven experience in managing and leading on the research, planning, devising, development and implementation of new programmes and the renewal of existing ones, you will curate and deliver artist-led participation projects both in the wider community and in the Museum.

You will manage all aspects including budgeting, writing reports, drafting contracts and fundraising applications, and designing marketing material. You will act as lead liaison between external organisations/communities and Tate, particularly with Curatorial colleagues and Learning and will represent Tate with key community partners including Living Bankside, Better Bankside, Low line and Bankside Open Spaces Trust.

You will have substantial experience in curating and managing community projects in an education, art gallery or museum setting and a highly developed understanding of the theory and practice of community development through culture. You will have used your excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills to develop and manage community programmes and commissioning artists.
