This is an exciting opportunity to join the Tate Britain Curatorial team. As a Curator, Contemporary British Art your role will be responsible for contributing to the contemporary exhibitions and displays programme at Tate Britain as well as working on acquisition causes. You will work within a team of Curators, reporting to the Senior Curator of Contemporary Art and be supported by Assistant Curators in the team, one of whom you will line manage and support their professional development.
This role will play a key part in plans to rehang the permanent collection. It will also involve devising and delivering a number of exhibition projects, such as the annual Sotheby’s commission in the Duveen Galleries, to ensure excellence and artistic integrity of the contemporary programme.
To be successful in this role you will possess a high level of knowledge of contemporary art, with specialist expertise in British art, and have significant relevant experience of working in an art gallery, museum, with a collection or similar. You will have a strong track record of devising and delivering exhibitions with curatorial flair and imagination for diverse audiences. You will have experience of working on commissions, and of published writing on contemporary art as well as strong relationships with artists. Your ability to lead a cross departmental team and to work with others to achieve exceptional results coupled with an awareness of issues of equality and cultural diversity as they affect the work of a major museum will be essential in this role.
