The candidate will have an interest in pursuing a career in contemporary art, particularly as a curator or related practice. The candidate should be studying towards a degree (BA, MA, BFA, MFA) in curatorial studies, visual art, art history, cultural studies, media studies, or related field.
Reporting to the Artistic/ Executive Director or his designate, the Curatorial Assistant (intern) will participate in a broad range of activities that include various aspects of running a contemporary art gallery/museum, including research, writing, and administration and support of artists in the Summer Institute. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria of the Young Canada Works program administered by the Canadian Museums Association, including being under 30 years old, a Canadian citizen, and be returning to school following the internship. The Curatorial Assistant Intern will have an emphasis on curatorial production, while participating in all aspects of the Institute’s activities. This position is 40 hours per week, requiring some work in evenings and on weekends.
