About the Project
Together There is a creative thought residency and ecosystem building effort to collectively envision a caring and just digital future led with, by, and for equity-seeking creators, curators, educators, and producers in Canadian arts and culture. Together There is generously supported by Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund.
Featured activities in 2022-23 include an online co-creation thought residency (Jun to Nov 2022), human-centered design knowledge workshops for the wider community (Sep to Dec 2022), and an international symposium (Winter/Spring 2023).
About the Roles
We are currently seeking 4 Thought Residency Curators, 4 Symposium Curators, and 4 Working Leads to support the co-design, implementation and evaluation of the project. Applications are welcome from arts workers residing anywhere in Canada from the following four priority groups:
- Indigenous
- Racialized (Black, and other people of colour)
- Outside the core (suburban, rural, remote)
- Disability (D/deaf, blind, neurodiverse, and other disabled).
Responsibilities
Major responsibilities for the three job opportunities include:
1) Curators, Digital Justice Creative Thought Residency (4 positions)
- Creative thought residency co-design for 10 to 15 equity-seeking creators and producers from any artistic discipline in Canada
- Participant recruitment and mentorship
- Knowledge stewardship and evaluation
This is a flexible, part-time, freelance (non-employee) contract. Compensation is a flat fee at maximum $10,625 per position. The positions remain open until filled. Desired start time is between mid-March and early April 2022 until January 2023.
2) Curators, Digital Justice Symposium (4 positions)
- Thematic and programmatic design for a digital-first symposium in Winter/Spring 2023 with approximately three dozen international guest speakers
- Guest speaker selection and support
- Delegate outreach and project evaluation
This is a flexible, part-time, freelance (non-employee) contract. Compensation is a flat fee at maximum $10,625 per position. The positions remain open until filled. Desired start time is between May and June 2022 with the majority of work happening in Fall 2022.
3) Working Leads (4 positions)
- Creative knowledge seeking and stewardship of wisdom and insights from the Creative Thought Residency and Symposium
- Participant liaising and support
- Public outreach and general administration
This is a flexible, part-time, freelance (non-employee) contract from Spring 2022 to Winter 2023. Compensation is maximum $22,500 per position at a living wage of $28 to $38 per hour according to the skills and capacities of the incumbents. The positions remain open until filled. Desired start time is between late March to late April 2022.
Requirements
The ideal candidates are:
- Highly creative, energetic, and interested in ideas and topics related to digital justice inside and outside the arts
- A natural collaborator, self-starter attitude, able to adapt and learn new skills quickly, with a history of working alongside different stakeholders to deliver projects
- Strong familiarity with, or a passion for, digital technology and the artistic, creative, and cultural industries in Canada
- Lived experience within, or an exceptional body of domain expertise and knowledge on, one or more priority equity-seeking group(s) nationally and internationally, including:
- Indigenous
- Racialized (Black, Brown, and other people of colour)
- Outside the core (suburban, rural, remote)
- Disability (D/deaf, blind, neurodiverse, and other disabled)
- Experience in supporting or attending digital conferences or symposiums an asset
- Strong reading, verbal, and written communications skills in English and/or French and/or an Indigenous language in Canada
- High level of familiarity with computer programs, especially Microsoft Office365
- Exceptional capacities at planning and producing engaging and effective arts events online
- Experience or interest in equity-based research, knowledge seeking and knowledge stewardship an asset for Working Leads
- Experience with qualitative analysis and digital tools like NVivo an asset for Working Leads
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude toward achieving goals, including excellent inter-personal communication and attention to detail
- Access to a home office including personal computer (Windows or Mac OS) and internet
