Curator’s Open: Curate ArtSlant’s Booth at EXPO Chicago
For the first time, ArtSlant has partnered with EXPO CHICAGO to produce Curator’s Open, an international online contest among emerging curators. Curator’s Open is an open platform for curatorial experimentation. Applicants can select from a list of filterable artworks by ArtSlant’s 900,000+ artists to submit their curatorial proposal. The selected juried proposal will be mounted as part of the Special Exhibitions program at EXPO CHICAGO, September 18–21, 2014. The panel includes Independent Curator, Audrey Illouz and Maiza Hixson the DCCA Gretchen Hupfel Curator of Contemporary Art, and will be overseen by EXPO CHICAGO’s Director of Programming, Patricia Courson.
The Curator’s Open leverages ArtSlant’s unique online platform to create an opportunity to manifest the virtual into the physical at an international contemporary art fair. As the top worldwide contemporary art network, Artslant.com is an ideal venue to actively research curatorial themes and concepts. Curator’s Open gives users and viewers alike the chance to experience – and test – their online concepts in real time, while allowing the opportunity to manifest those concepts in real space.
ArtSlant.com opened its first arts portal to the contemporary art world in Los Angeles in 2007. Now with sixteen editions worldwide, ArtSlant provides information and access with global breadth and local depth, while providing a place for artists and curators from around the world to network and exhibit their work.
