Engagement Curator: Schools & Young People
Autograph is looking for an exceptional and imaginative person to join our team in a new role designed to lead our work with schools and young people. You will need to be a resourceful person and a strong communicator comfortable working with a wide range of partners, artists and interest groups, to deliver the responsibilities set out in this role as part of a small professional team.
The Engagement Curator is a new role with considerable scope to shape and develop Autograph’s future offer for schools and young people. You will assume overall responsibility for learning and engagement strategy including line management for two highly capable part-time Learning & Participation colleagues, who deliver a range of engagement opportunities at Autograph and also lead on particular priorities including our in-house SEND Family programme and partnership with the Art School for the Homeless.
Based at Rivington Place, which houses our two public project spaces, small scale screening facilities, a learning studio and our specialist photographic collection, you will:
• Lead our work to engage schools and young people with the themes we address through our artistic programme: identity, race, representation and rights, by delivering a range of different activities on and off site.
• Have a key role in proposing ideas for activities and contributors and shaping creative content, for on-site, digital and off-site projects
What are we seeking?
• A clear understanding and appreciation of our mission and the subject matter Autograph shares with audiences.
• Substantial proven experience in developing and delivering visual arts learning and participation strategy and activity tailored to young people which is inclusive in approach and gained in both formal statutory delivery contexts and informal contexts.
• Experience in research, development, and management of partnerships with voluntary sector organisations, schools, libraries etc to co-design and deliver creative engagement activity on-line and in person which attract a wide range of people to participate and learn.
• Strong project management, budget management review and evaluation skills and an interest in understanding impact.
• A commitment to cooperation, teamwork, and continuous learning and development.
• Confidence in communicating with a wide cross section of people and range of ability.
• An Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service certificate is necessary for this role.
This is a full-time role, based at Autograph’s gallery in the heart of London’s exciting Shoreditch district. Our iconic building was designed by Sir David Adjaye and is England’s first permanent public space dedicated to diversity in the visual arts.
