ISCP
The International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) is currently accepting 2022 Fall interns with a priority deadline of August 15, 2022 and a start date of September 6, 2022. ISCP also accepts internship applications year-round.
Internship Description:
ISCP interns engage in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of an international not-for-profit arts organization and gain invaluable experience while being introduced to a vast network of international art professionals. Due to ISCP’s small staff, interns play a critical role in the administration of ISCP’s overall program. Administrative internship are focused on programs, development, finance or communications. ISCP internships can provide a foundation in a variety of skills, and offer experience and contacts for future careers in the following professions: curator, artist, and arts administrator.
- Benefit Auction (Applications for Fall 2022 are no longer being accepted): A flexible five month internship running May–October helping with all aspects of ISCP’s upcoming annual fall benefit auction. The intern will play a vital role in the planning and implementation of the event to raise funds for ISCP residencies, public programs and general operating support. They will gain hands-on experience with ISCP’s largest fundraising initiative of the year. Tasks include artwork data collection and organizing, copy editing, support with in-person event planning, and research. Preferences are given to individuals that are available from May–October. Intern will be asked to travel by subway to all five boroughs to pick up artworks, and must be able to comfortably carry a maximum of 30 lbs.
- Executive Assistant: Interns focus on regional research online and assist primarily developing relationships between ISCP and individual donors, ministries of culture and prospective corporate supporters of future residencies. Individuals will work closely with the Executive Director of ISCP and provide support in various aspects of the organization’s operations, board meetings, and donor stewardship.
- Communications: Individuals interested in design and marketing who are detail oriented with an interest in photography tend to excel in this internship. Interns photograph resident studios and programs for residents such as field trips. While ISCP is still hosting virtual events, the intern will be involved in documentation and archiving. Communications interns also research press for ISCP’s 30+public events and play a large part in promoting ISCP alumni and current events worldwide via Twitter and Facebook, as well as online listings. Tuesdays afternoon availability is required.
- Development-grants and events: Fundraising is a skill that is useful for anyone interested in a future in arts administration and philanthropy in general. The intern builds research skills, assists in the development of proposals and reports to foundations and government funders. The intern also helps prepare materials and data in preparation for cultivation and prospecting.
- Operations (Applications for Fall 2022 are no longer being accepted): Individuals interested in arts administration will gain insight into the operation of an arts nonprofit and will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer. The intern will primarily assist with ISCP’s annual financial audit, maintaining the Salesforce donor database and logistics of an upcoming IT upgrade.
- Programs-public programs: The focus of this internship is on research for public talks, exhibitions and programs for ISCP residents. Excellent research skills and a strong interest in art history or curating is required.
- Programs-residencies: Responsibilities include answering inquiries from prospective residents, registering applications, researching open call opportunities for alumni, and providing direct support for current residents on field trips, trips to Materials for the Arts and resident events. Tuesday or Thursday availability is required. Administrative skills in Microsoft office or Google sheets and docs is preferred. Interns will participate in basic program administration.
All interns are invited to select monthly field trips and all public programs.
Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, multitasking, reliability, team player, Mac proficiency (Word and Excel), basic Creative Suite knowledge a plus, experience with database systems (Salesforce a plus), strong organizational skills, interest in non-profit arts administration and contemporary art. Eligibility to work in the United States is required. Please note: candidates must be of junior-year college level or above to be considered. Serious inquiries only need apply.
Duration:
Internships generally start in September, January, and June. All internships require a minimum commitment of 16 hours (2 days) per week, and a number of openings require a three or four day per week commitment, both for a minimum of three months.
