Responsible for the overall management of the Department of Art’s five galleries, including the Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery, three student galleries, and the Downtown Gallery. Responsibilities include coordination, scheduling, and supervision of galleries, acquisition of gallery exhibitions, publicity and community outreach, grant writing, fundraising, and budgeting; supervision of gallery staff and student assistants; curation of the department’s permanent art collection. Additional duties include teaching one course per semester related to either the BFA or MFA programs, or in an area of the Director’s specialty. The Department of Art’s galleries are one of its primary outreach mechanisms, featuring professional, contemporary art exhibitions, lectures, and performances. They play a significant role in all aspects of the Department’s educational and research programs.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree from an accredited university with major course work in Art or Art History and two years, or a Doctorate and one year of experience in an art gallery or museum environment.
