Nicholas Fox Weber Curatorial Residencies
The Glucksman, University College Cork

The Glucksman is pleased to invite applications for the September 2020 and June 2021 programme of curatorial residencies that will take place from 2018 – 2022 in Cork, Ireland. The residencies are named in honour of the cultural historian, curator and writer, Dr. Nicholas Fox Weber, who is the Executive Director of the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation and an honorary graduate of University College Cork.

The programme will offer two paid opportunities for curators based outside of Ireland to undertake research within the artistic and academic context of the Glucksman, UCC, as well as to enable wider engagement with the artistic and cultural networks in the Cork region.

The objectives of the Nicholas Fox Weber residency programme are to:

1. provide time and space for curators to develop exhibition, project or writing outcomes that draw on the regional and interdisciplinary context of the Glucksman
2. stimulate knowledge exchange and curatorial discourse within the academic framework of University College Cork
3. support curatorial research that engages with artists and cultural practitioners in the Cork region

The residency will provide accommodation for two weeks in Cork, a stipend of 1500 euro and a further 1000 euro to support travel costs to and from Cork. Successful candidates will be given a curatorial studio for the two-week period in the Glucksman for their research project. One residency will take place during the period of 14 – 27 September 2020. The other residency should take place during the period 14 – 27 June 2021.

The Glucksman now invites applications for the Nicholas Fox Weber Curatorial Residencies. Applications should be sent to exhibitions@glucksman.org comprising:

1. Completed application form
2. A one-page proposal on a specific research project and its relevance to the
3. objectives of the residency programme (max 500 words)
4. Outline of previous curatorial projects including images (no more than 4 pages)
5. One page CV
6. Letters of support where relevant

The deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm, 28 February 2020.
