Open call for curatorial projects

Introduction

The Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero (UNTREF) proudly announces the 5th edition of BIENALSUR. This global art event invites artists and curators of all nationalities to submit their projects. Selected projects will feature in various venues worldwide in 2025.

Open Call Details

The call for submissions opens on March 4th and closes on April 8th, 2024. Interested participants can apply online in both Spanish and English. The organizers encourage proposals that challenge contemporary art and culture theories. They seek innovative perspectives that address the diverse experiences of today’s world.

Objectives of BIENALSUR

BIENALSUR aims to promote cultural rights and foster cultural citizenship, particularly from the global south. Its unique collaborative format allows regional arts to shine, celebrating their distinct identities. The initiative also supports critical thinking and alternative art and cultural practices, challenging traditional narratives.

Application Process

Artists and curators can apply in four categories: individual artist, artist group, individual curator, and curator group. Each category allows for only one submission per applicant. The International Curatorial Council will review the submissions. They will select projects that align with the curatorial themes for the 2025 edition. This selection marks the tenth anniversary of BIENALSUR.
