Paid Graduate Internships
The National Gallery of Art is pleased to announce 2020-2021 internship opportunities. We invite you to view current internship information, especially the differing requirements for each opportunity, on the web pages below. The application portal can be accessed from the web page for each internship.
The application deadline for all opportunities is January 12, 2020.
Summer Interns are in residence from June 1, 2020 to July 31, 2020.
Interns in the Museum Profession, Graduate Curatorial Interns, and John Wilmerding Interns in American Art and in Digital Interpretation are in residence between September 14, 2020 and May 7, 2021.
Summer Internships For currently enrolled graduate students of all levels and those graduating in May or June 2020 with a relevant degree. Nine-week internships provide opportunities to work on projects directed by a Gallery curator or department head in all subject areas. www.nga.gov/opportunities/interns-and-fellows/graduate/summer.html
Graduate Curatorial Internships For doctoral students who are in the advanced stage of their dissertations and to recent PhD recipients. Internships in the Museum Profession Preference is given to applicants who are enrolled in a graduate program or are recent MA, MS, MFA, or MLS graduates. Applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. www.nga.gov/opportunities/interns-and-fellows/graduate/museum-profession.html
John Wilmerding Internships One internship in American art and one in digital interpretation provide institutional training to students interested in pursuing a museum career.
