Part-time Curatorial Fellowship for Diversity in the Arts
The Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago (MoCP) offers a 24-month, grant-funded Curatorial Fellowship for Diversity in the Arts, which begins in September, 2018. The Curatorial Fellowship will provide a recent graduate with important professional experience in the areas of research and planning collections and exhibitions, develop associated publications and supporting curricular use of the museum’s collection with a focus on African, Asian, Latin American, Islamic and Native American Art.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diversify the museum’s programs by researching and planning for the collection and exhibitions.
- Assist with expanding and diversifying the museum’s programs and holdings by researching and planning for the collection and exhibitions to increase MoCP audience.
- Develop associated publications including texts for exhibitions and catalogue entries for collection.
- Support the curricular use of the museum’s collection to reflect the economic, racial, cultural, and educational diversity of contemporary America.
- Conduct print viewings and tours as needed for students and the general public.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Master’s Degree in Art History or related field with emphasis on Photography, Modern or Contemporary Art required.
- Previous museum experience a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal skills are required.
- Strong knowledge of (or familiarity with) two or more areas in African, Asian, Latin American, Islamic or Native American Art.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills including the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
