Sea Foundation Fellowship | Open Call for Curators
OPEN CALL
SEA Foundation’s invites applicants for its 2019/2020 residency program Two fellowships available.
ABOUT
Since its inception in 2016, the SEA Fellowship has pioneered an individual model and developed into a significant platform for artistic professional advancement. Application is open to curators and in all stages of their career.
RESIDENCY
The residencies are designed for the 21st-century art professional – visual artists, curators and art theorists/writers – whose work and life demands both a rigorous engagement as well as an urgency to propel progress. We believe that the contemporary art practice requires both flexibility as well as stability, a self-directed approach, and a guided environment. Based on a project proposal and developmental questions, we offer a tailor-made programme in a discursive setting and in doing so fulfil a guiding – and a bridging function. The inclusive character lies within the trinity of hospitality, the ‘art & design infuse’ house, and the residencies & presentations. Bespoke mentoring and training up to 4 hours per week are included in the program.
Duration: Up to 3 months

ORGANISATION
SEA Foundation is a Dutch not-for-profit, artist-led organisation in Tilburg the Netherlands established in 2011. Over the past years, SEA Foundation became known as an umbrella label for, support, exhibitions, art projects, exchanges, and publications. From 2013 the Artist in Residence – AiR Tilburg – is run, which attracts local and international practitioners. SEA Foundation’s goal is to facilitate the development of artistic practice, aiming to develop this practice to the highest level.
In all our activities we are fuelled by visual arts. Transgressing the boundaries between disciplines and always putting the context and the idea before the medium. By working in different cultural contexts, the foundation generates discussion, exposing and intervening within, as well as being part of networks that concentrate on eminent issues. SEA Foundation aims to be a cultural catalyst in the working lives of art professionals.
LOCATION
SEA Foundation’s home is based in the city center of Tilburg, a mid-sized town in the south of the Netherlands. Tilburg is a contemporary art oriented town in a cultural heritage rich region, centrally located in Northern Europe between Brussel, Amsterdam, and Cologne.
