The Exhibitionist is looking for an Assistant Editor
The Exhibitionist is a joumal focusing solely on the practice of exhibition making. The objective is to create a wider platform for the discussion of curatorial concerns, encourage a diversification of curatorial models, and actively contribute to the formation of a theory of curating. The joumal is a publication made by curators for curators and understands itself as a site for critical debate in regards to the practice of exhibition making. The Exhibitionist is published twice a year by Archive Books in Berlin and distributed in the U.S. by MIT Press. The Assistant Editor works as part of The Exhibitionist editorial team to explore exhibition making and curating in its diversity of forms.
The Assistant Editor, working directly with the Senior Editor, will fulfill the following tasks:
– Researching potential contributors to the joumal and exhibitions for review
– Working with contributors to secure and edit texts
– Researching and collating images and securing pemissions
– Drafting image captions and credits
– Sourcing texts and securing their pemissions
– Compiling front and back matter
– Assisting in the production of events and promotional initiatives
– Processing invoices and compiling mailing lists
The Assistant Editor position requires some experience in publishing, including editing texts and working with image rights. A knowledge and interest in intemational contemporary art and exhibitions as well as exhibition histories, is essential. Initiative. accuracy. and good organizational skills are key elements to this position.
Fee: $750 per Issue
