The Henry Moore Foundation seeks director

henrymoore
Deadline: Monday 9 February 2015
Location: Perry Green, Herts
Salary: Highly competitive, commensurate with the scale and responsibility of the role

The Henry Moore Foundation is seeking to appoint a new Director to succeed Richard Calvocoressi CBE, who is retiring in June this year after eight years in the role.

The Henry Moore Foundation was established by Henry Moore during his lifetime in 1977 and is the largest artist-endowed grant-giving foundation in Europe. Founded “to advance the education of the public by the promotion of their appreciation of the Fine Arts and, in particular, the works of Henry Moore,” the primary objectives of the Foundation are to preserve Moore’s legacy at his home in Perry Green in Hertfordshire and through exhibitions of the Henry Moore Collections worldwide; to support the study of sculpture and research at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds; and to award grants to sculpture and other artistic and educational projects in the UK and abroad.

In the new Director, the Trustees seek an effective leader, with strategic vision and a strong scholarly interest in sculpture (historic and contemporary). While candidates need not be Moore experts, they do need to be sympathetic to the ethos of Moore’s life and work, able to provide both artistic and operational leadership and to develop an ambitious vision which knits together the various strands of the Foundation’s activities into a coherent and impactful whole. They will be a good ambassador for the Foundation in the UK and internationally, giving profile, purpose and recognition to Henry Moore’s legacy and continuing impact on sculpture and art today. They will bring energy and new momentum to tackle the challenges which leadership of the organisation offers to a visionary candidate with the drive and enthusiasm to deliver results.

If you are up to the challenge and have the credentials to meet the requirements of the role, please be in touch for more information and an application pack with Mary Deegan of Liz Amos Associates:
