This 2-day workshop offers a comprehensive guide to fees, contracts and negotiation skills for the art world. As an artist, curator, or any other art professional, setting fair agreements and effective communication are fundamental to fostering positive, long-term collaborations.
The first session of the workshop focuses on honing your negotiation skills and building the confidence to advocate for yourself. This expertise is crucial, particularly when defining your working conditions, negotiating fees or salaries, and establishing clear boundaries, ensuring your work and time are respected.
In the second session, we’ll delve into practical aspects of setting fees and salaries. We will explore how to determine fair and sustainable prices across different scenarios, including travel fees, project fees, writing fees, and curator salaries. Finally, you will gain insights into setting up and understanding contracts – vital skills for managing expectations and ensuring transparency in a work environment often built on close relationships.
Throughout the workshop, you will learn from different case studies to put these tools into practice across a range of scenarios. Additionally, you will receive templates and documents to carry forward into your work in the arts.
