Tate’s vision is to serve as artistically adventurous and culturally inclusive art museums for the UK and the world. We deliver this through activities in our four galleries across the UK (Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives, Tate Britain and Tate Modern), our digital platforms and collaborations with our national and international partners. At the heart of Tate is our collection of art, which includes British art from the 16th century to the present day, and international modern art from 1900 to the present day.
Tate has the finest collection of British art in the world. Each year, around a million and a half visitors enjoy the free collection displays at Tate Britain. The majority of Britain’s most celebrated artists are best represented in Tate’s Collection and Tate Britain is unquestionably the home of British art. The 2020 rehang will reinforce that reputation with existing and new audiences alike, of all ages and backgrounds
Our ambition is for Tate Britain to speak to the whole of society, extending our audience and championing the role of art and artists in culture and society. In June 2020 Tate Britain will be launching the rehang of its entire collection displays for the first time in seven years. The new displays aim to relate the art of a given period to its social and cultural contexts in ways that resonate strongly today and that situate British art – and Britain generally – in international terms. These will be the centrepiece of the repositioning of Tate Britain, work that will encompass the entire audience experience at Tate Britain.
We are looking for a dynamic and highly effective project manager to coordinate this exciting project. You will be responsible for providing exemplary liaison and coordination across a range of teams and stakeholders at Tate as well as externally to ensure the project is delivered smoothly, to deadline and budget and to the highest possible standards. To be successful, you will be an experienced project manager with experience of working with agile and user-centred project and design methodologies. You will have a strategic vision combined with an eye for detail and robust planning skills, a thorough understanding of workflow and production timelines, be able to proactively anticipate deadlines and have extensive experience of motivating project teams.
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract until 10 September 2020
