We are looking for a Curator who can work within our small team for our next City Takeover in Leicester (26 Feb – 1 Mar 2021). This role would suit an emerging curator or someone who is looking to build up their experience. Your key role will be the curation of all works (approx 20-30) of visual, applied and digital arts for presentation across numerous sites in Leicester. Establishing rapport and good communication with the selected artists and ensuring that this strand of work is delivered to a high standard and relates to the city of Leicester. The ideal person for this role is versatile, imaginative, well-organised, personable and a hard worker.
Key responsibilities:
- To attend and support ‘Leicester 2021’ selection of artists in July 2020, ensuring appropriate placement of artists and their needs
- Establishing rapport and good communication with the artists selected for presentation
- Establishing rapport and good communication with the venues selected for presentation
- Develop a work plan which outlines the technical, logistics and related needs of this strand of work to the wider City Takeover team
- Manage a budget with support from the Operations Manager
- To work together as one team to ensure that the programme is delivered and programmed sensitively with no clashes
- To ensure that Audience Development and Communications Manager has all the relevant images and marketing copy for the selected artists
- To liaise with the Project Manager (Logistics and Events) to arrange any necessary tools, equipment etc.
- To liaise with venue technicians and artists to arrange the installation of all works, with support from the Project Manager
- To input into the Leicester 2021 talks and masterclasses programme and in conversation with the City Takeover team arrange and run a suite of Q&A’s with artists during the City Takeover
- To be in regular attendance for the following dates: 22nd February to March 3rd
- Other relevant administrative work/ meetings and relevant groundwork in Leicester as and when needed
