Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Art Museum;
  • Implement museum policies and procedures in accordance with current University guidelines and professional best practices;
  • Manage budgeted and endowed accounts; approval of departmental expenditures;
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to coordinate upcoming exhibitions and events; participate in divisional and university committees as well as advisory groups;
  • Conduct tours and provide lectures about collections and exhibitions; provide specialized advice about art and collecting; work with current and prospective donors;
  • Coordinate, implement and review long-range planning strategies for the Art Museum;
  • Maintain personnel files for unclassified staff, including annual reviews and salary recommendations; conduct annual reviews of classified staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Museum Studies, Art History, Arts Management or Business Administration with 5-8 years of full-time museum experience. Experience in these areas may be earned concurrently.

Desired Qualifications:
Consideration may be given to candidates with a Doctoral degree in Art History.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of world art history; familiarity with art materials/processes/exhibition planning/design; working with donors/collectors; long-range planning; knowledge of higher education budgeting practices and endowments.
