Work location: Onsite at the QM (100%)
Salary range: $23.08/Hourly ($45k annually) based on a weekly schedule of 37.5 hours

About the Year of Uncertainty:
The Queens Museum has embarked on a Year of Uncertainty (YoU), a framework for strengthening connection among the Museum, our communities, and constituents, focused on creating new possibilities for culture, kinship, and mutual support. Centered around themes of Care, Repair, Play, Justice, and The Future, this program responds to hyperlocal and international states of precarity that have been heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic, including the crises of inaction and unaccountability toward racial justice and xenophobia, climate reparations, and income disparity.
Six Artists-In-Residence; nine Community Partners and twelve Co-Thinkers are at the center of YoU. Working together with staff across departments and our stakeholders, these thinkers will inform and participate in a deep reconsideration of museum pedagogy and infrastructure. In Fall 2021, outputs of this learning and co-creation process will be shared through public conversations, activations, and presentations across all spaces and platforms of the Museum.
Position Overview:
The Queens Museum seeks a well-organized person with exceptional technical, coordination, and communications skills to support the delivery and overall administration of the QM’s Year of Uncertainty. Reporting to the Community Partnerships Manager, the YoU Exhibitions and Programs Assistant is a key member of the team and ensures the smooth logistical facilitation of internal and public-facing events, programs, and exhibitions. They are responsible for managing program logistics and ensuring that QM meets any access requirements, they will facilitate virtual programming and oversee translations and interpretation functions. Additional responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating meetings, supporting internship activities, and general administration. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong technical skills, logistics coordination, administrative and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions:
Provide general administrative and organizing support for YoU
Responsible for all logistics and start-to-finish organizing for public programs, talks, and events – including YoU public-facing forums, intensives, and QM Learning Sessions
Oversee documentation
- Organize translation functions on Zoom and other virtual programming platforms
- Coordinate logistics to support the YoU cohort
- Manage department meeting agendas for YoU meetings; capture meeting minutes
- Coordinate internships activities, support intern cohort at the QM
- Process Invoices and payments related to YoU, working closely with Finance and Human Resources
- Support the Assistant Curators in management of the YoU Artist studios (onsite at the QM)
- Work in collaboration with the Exhibitions & Programs department, artists,
- Co-Thinkers, and Community Partners in all aspects of YoU programming
- Assisting with the research, outreach, and development of projects including community partnership initiatives
- Attend meetings with internal and external parties
- Contributing to interdepartmental communication about these programs within the museum
- Contributing to and assisting with public-facing communication and reporting on new and ongoing community initiatives; Producing event descriptions or documentation materials

Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in an administrative and/or coordinator capacity (Programming coordinator experience in a Museum, Academic, Community-based organization or Non-Profit setting is desirable)
- Educational background in Communications, Museum Studies, Art/Art History, Business Administration or a related field of study and/or its work experience equivalent
Requirements:
- Availability to work full-time onsite at the Queens Museum (Monday – Friday, and occasional evenings and weekends)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Windows and Google Workspace Applications
- Proficiency with Zoom’s meeting & Webinar hosting controls
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (desirable)
- Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin and/or American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly desired
