
Associate Curator of Collections
Position Purpose
The Associate Curator of Collections provides strategic management of the collection areas at the Hood Museum of Art not under the purview of staff curators. To research and document, exhibit, and teach with those art collections and participate in their preservation and growth. To participate as part of a team of professionals in support of teaching and learning with art at the Hood Museum of Art and Dartmouth. To create permanent collection gallery installations and manage loan exhibitions.

Required Qualifications – Education and Yrs Exp
Masters plus 3-5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Master’s degree in art history, anthropology, or the equivalent.
- 3 years of progressive curatorial experience in art and/or higher education organizations, including teaching with works of art and material culture.
- Broad knowledge of the arts and cultural history.
- Excellent oral and written communication and project management skills.
- Ability to balance competing demands and make decisions under deadline pressure.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion.
- Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in art history, anthropology, education, or the equivalent.
- 5 years of progressive museum experience within higher education, including teaching with works of art and material culture.
- Track record of curating exhibitions and/or publishing and presenting within the museum field.
