JOB PURPOSE
To assist the Curatorial team with the documentation of the Fine Art collection. To create, edit and maintain catalogue records for the Lady Lever Art Gallery. To improve access to our collections, particularly through digitisation and publication on National Museums Liverpool website.
Main Activities
Reporting to Assistant Curator of Fine Art you will:
• Prepare and process data using NML’s collections management system, Mimsy XG 1.6.
• Edit and improve catalogue records for web publication.
• Identifying and contacting copyright holders to secure image rights.
• Upload images to NML’s collections management system.
• Identify key objects or stories for use in social media content.
• Liaise with colleagues in Curatorial, Digital and Marketing to update and promote access to NML’s online collections.
• Take responsibility for personally participating in the Performance Development & Review process (PDR).
• Undertake training and development courses and programmes, as required.

Experience:
High level of computer literacy and experience of processing data.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent writing skills, with ability to adapt writing style for different purposes, such as catalogue descriptions or online labels.
- Interest in art history with a desire to develop this, to support knowledge of the Walker’s collections.
- Awareness of current issues in museums and galleries relating to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work in a team and independently.
- Willingness to take part in relevant training for the role.
