MUSEION, museum for modern and contemporary art, Bolzano, is seeking a CURATOR
As a vital part of the team, this role will be instrumental in shaping MUSEION’s vision and further institutional transformation together with the director, promoting fundamental innovation in a cross- disciplinary and civic environment.
The Curator will:
– be involved in all aspects of the museum’s life, as well as making a mark through the exhibitions and projects they propose;
– work closely with the director (to whom they will report) and the management team in the development and implementation of far-reaching and long-term artistic visions;
– propose and curate projects and exhibitions;
– spearhead critical dialogue that is also inspiring and meaningful for a broad audience;
– propose innovative digital initiatives and publications to ensure coherence in the
programme;
– build relationships with international peers, museums and institutions, and initiate a
meaningful exchange of knowledge;
– define, manage, and control the budget of their projects;
– contribute to the preparation of funding applications to support content-related programs.
Requirements:
– degree (MA or PhD) in the arts or humanities, along with proven research in the field of art/cultural theory and/or critique;
– minimum seven years of professional experience as a curator and/or researcher in institutional jobs, as well as proven success in the implementation of outstanding international projects;
– proven track record of developing new work with artists and creative practitioners, including promoting new works or approaches to production;
– High level of awareness of the current reconfigurations in the arts from a transnational and transdisciplinary perspective and broad cultural knowledge and interests;
– internationally excellent working relationships and a professional network across all art forms and genres;
– knowledge and comprehensive understanding of digital technological developments.

– Languages: excellent knowledge of English, very good German or Italian (or willingness to
learn the language not known – working languages,) both in speaking and writing;
