Opportunity: University of Salford Art Collection
The University of Salford Art Collection consists of around 700 works and exists for the benefit of staff, students and the public. It is displayed in key secure locations around the University and is available for loan to other institutions both in the UK and internationally. The University’s aim is to encourage engagement with the arts and to support excellence in teaching, research and community engagement and to play a leadership role in contributing to culture in the North West of England.
The Art Collection Team (part of External Relations) is responsible for caring for and expanding the University Art Collection. They develop and manage new strategic partnerships with artists, arts venues and associate organisations, contributing to the regional artist ecology. The team creates and delivers a programme of activities for staff, students and the public and contributes to leading cultural sector developments both regionally, nationally and internationally.
Calling University of Salford graduates of 2021 interested in a career in visual arts, curating or museums. An exciting and new opportunity has been created as a Graduate Associate to work with the University Art Collection. You will join a small but very experienced team of staff, who will support you on your learning journey within the role. You will support both business as usual and specific project based activities led by the Art Collection team.
The successful candidate will develop a strong all round knowledge and experience of working with a museum collection in a contemporary art context, which is essential for future employment in the sector. Expected areas for skills development include Collections Care and Management, Programming, Arts Marketing and Communications, and General Administration. This fixed term post will provide you with the tools and networks to further develop your career.
