ABOUT INDIEWALLS:

At Indiewalls we work on the boldest commercial art projects in the country and we focus on bringing independent artists to those spaces. We are looking for a highly creative, organized, and hard-working individual to join our Curatorial team. Our clients include boutique hotels, large-scale office spaces, high-end residential designers, and big brands. As a Senior Curator, you will be responsible for helping them conceptualize, discover, purchase, and commission contemporary artwork from independent artists. Combine your love of art and design with your strong work ethic and passion for problem solving.

This position is a perfect fit for a creative with experience in curating, artist management and logistics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to curate bespoke artwork proposals that meet budget requirements and tight turnaround times.
  • Finding the best artists for particular projects, and helping them to develop concepts and proposals that fit our clients’ needs.
  • Advising clients (property developers/interior designers) on suggested artworks, sizes, locations, and any other specifications related to the artwork needs of their projects.
  • Leading projects with large-scale custom commissions and/or projects with hundreds of unique artwork locations, often with tight deadlines.
  • Communicating with and retrieving all necessary materials from artists for projects – including contract negotiations.
  • Communicating with clients to determine all necessary requirements and specifications of a given artwork.
  • Negotiating artist pricing and being instrumental in the financial health of a project.
  • Working with a range of external stakeholders and internal project managers to assure that all tasks related to your projects are completed on time and to specification.
  • Quality control – making sure that all artworks meet the client’s final specs. In some instances this will mean inspecting artwork at artists’ studios or manufacturing facilities. Domestic travel as needed (At most one day per month)
  • Conducting Site visits as needed for projects. Domestic travel as needed (At most one day per month)

Requirements

  • Please be vaccinated!
  • 3+ years experience in art consulting/curating and/or operations; and/or interior design operations.
  • Excellent eye for art and design
  • A strong rolodex of independent artists
  • The confidence to make definitive curatorial decisions, selections, and recommendations.
  • Ability to read and understand floor plans and elevations.
  • Stellar communication skills – both written/email, phone, and in-person.
  • Ability to efficiently manage dozens of projects in various sizes simultaneously; working well under pressure; meeting deadlines.
  • A knack for creative problem solving and proactive initiatives.
  • Strong grasp of applications including Gmail, Google Drive, and Adobe Suite.
  • Graphic Design experience is a big plus but not a must.
