Tate Britain is looking for an experienced and dynamic Assistant Curator, Displays (Rehang), Tate Britain, to assist and support the work of the Tate Britain Curatorial Department with specific focus on the Rehang of the Collection launching in May 2023.
Reporting to the Project Manager (Rehang) you will have a broad knowledge of British art, an interest in and knowledge of British social history and its visual culture from multiple perspectives, an ability to work well with artists on loans-based projects, and the willingness to work flexibly across the range of Tate Britain’s programme.
You will be educated to degree (or equivalent) level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and thinking ability gained through experience.
You will have an awareness of issues of equality and cultural diversity as they affect the work of a major museum, including the contextualisation of collections of historical art.
You will possess a highly organised approach to work; a demonstrable ability to work under pressure and to deadline; to work as part of a team as well as unsupervised under own initiative; and a proven ability to work on several projects at the same time with meticulous attention to detail.
Well-developed writing, presentation and interpersonal skills, including proven experience of building effective working relationships,?are also a requirement of the job, as is computer literacy: the ability to use word-processing, internet, email, databases and spreadsheet applications to support own workload.
This position is offered on a 2 year fixed-term.
