Galerie Schwind GmbH is looking for an employee to join a management team at the main location in Leipzig from summer 2022. The position should be filled full-time, the working hours are Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Galerie Schwind was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1989, but since 2005 the gallery’s headquarters have been in the Tübke Villa in Leipzig-Gohlis. The gallery represents a number of the most important artists of the Leipzig School, such as Wolfgang Mattheuer, Werner Tübke and Michael Triegel, as well as those of the GDR, e.g. Willi Sitte and Fritz Cremer.
Requirements
- Professional experience in galleries and/or auctions is desirable
- Open, committed, team-oriented nature with the ability to work independently
- Structured and forward-looking work should be a matter of course for you
- Knowledge of dealing with (art) databases, Wordpress, Photoshop An advantage
- Very good knowledge of German, both written and spoken, knowledge of English is an advantage
Responsibilities
- Preparing exhibitions in the gallery (conception, exhibition setup and dismantling)
- Press and public relations work (writing press releases, sending newsletters, etc.)
- Contacts with collectors (creating offers, advice, sales)
- Support for artists and artists’ estates
- Maintenance of the catalog raisonné (Database)
- Website maintenance (WordPress)
- Organization of art transport
- Exhibition management for external, museum exhibitions
- Creation of catalogs (concepts, editing, proofreading, smaller texts)
- Daily correspondence, invoicing
The gallery also has an auction house. An interest in auctioning is also desirable since tasks occasionally overlap.
