We are seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Art (1900-present) with expertise in Africa and its diaspora, South Asia, East Asia, or the Middle East. This is a fixed-term post replacing a permanent member of staff on research leave.
You should already have, or be close to completing, a Ph.D. Effective communication skills are essential. You will be expected to offer attractive and accessible research-led undergraduate courses (involving third and fourth-year students) including one of the following: Modern Art Beyond the West; African Modernisms, or a related module from the existing course catalogue. Working with postgraduates, particularly teaching M.Litt. classes, will be a key part of your role. You will also be required to coordinate undergraduate and / or postgraduate team-taught modules, and to contribute lectures and tutorials on our second-year survey module.
Like other members of the School, you will be expected to take on administrative tasks as required by the Head of School.
Informal enquiries can be directed to Dr Jeremy Howard: jch2@st-andrews.ac.uk.
