The Kunstverein Bielefeld was founded in 1929 under the premise of promoting and communicating art. The activities of the Kunstverein are supported by the broad civic commitment of its almost 900 members today. The program focuses on the critical power of art and positions itself on current discourses. In addition to individual presentations, an essential part of the program is themed exhibitions that take place in cooperation with international institutions and regional initiatives. The aim of the Kunstverein Bielefeld is to update the Kunstverein as a space for aesthetic experiments and to reflect on current images of society with international artistic positions.
The Kunstverein Bielefeld is looking for a curatorial assistant (m/f/d) starting September 1st, 2022.
The main focus of the activity lies in the organization of the exhibition office, support in the development and implementation of our program, press and public relations work, publication and art education. Requirements for the application are a completed art or cultural studies degree or a similar qualification (Magister, Master or Diploma).
We expect:
– In-depth knowledge of contemporary art and a keen interest in related disciplines.
– Demonstrable work experience in art institutions, in project management of exhibitions and in art education.
– Above-average commitment, communication and organizational skills.
– Distinctive ability to work in a team and the willingness to work independently and cooperatively.
– Safe handling of common office software, image processing, social media and content management systems.
– Very good verbal and written communication skills.
– very good knowledge of English.
– Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
