Senior Curatorial Assistant (at the rank of Senior Facility Assistant) in the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) (Ref.: 516260) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary)
Applicants should possess (i) a good Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, cultural studies, art history or communications; (ii) a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the field of programme administration, event and project management in the art or education sector; (iii) good organisational and communication skills with strong command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; (iv) a good team player who can multi-task and be attentive to details.
The appointee will oversee the online education project and manage onsite events and workshops as described below.
Online education project
The appointee will demonstrate creativity and a proactive attitude in proposing new mechanisms to ameliorate the project outcomes. In doing so, they will provide contents that complement the existing primary and secondary school curriculum, i.e. STEAM.
- Project Management—Oversee projects by creating, organising, implementing, and executing online public and school education programmes that involve but are not limited to online teaching, script writing, video recordings, and subtitling based on the Museum’s collections
- Marketing—Build a rapport with schools, partners, consultants, government entities, artists, and curators on programme development, and generate reports from their feedback
- Promotion—Develop marketing strategies by i) identifying promotion channels; ii) conducting market research
- Evaluation—Perform impact evaluations on the education project
Events and Workshops
- Assist in designing outreach and education activities
- Provide technical support for events, such as lectures, concerts and film screenings when required, including weekends and after-hours (time in lieu applicable)
- Meet with hirers and provide sound recommendations on the benefits for both the Museum and hirers for show and event setup and operations
- Coordinate various promotional activities through online and printed materials
- Copyright promotional materials which may require editing and translation
- Lead guided tours
Requirements
- Degree holder with at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a supervisory position
- Work experience in arts and education organisations and keen passion for the cultural sector
- Proficient in computer software, including Zoom, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge in photo/image editing is a plus
- Fluent in English and Cantonese
