Wellcome is a politically and financially independent global charitable foundation, funded by a £29 billion investment portfolio. We support discovery research into life, health and wellbeing, and we’re taking on the three worldwide health challenges: mental health, climate change and health, and infectious disease.
These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone
Wellcome Collection is a free museum and library that aims to challenge how we all think and feel about health. Through exhibitions, collections, live programming, digital, broadcast and publishing, we create opportunities for people to think deeply about the links between science, medicine, life and art.
Where in Wellcome will I be working?
You will be joining the Exhibitions team. Since 2007 Wellcome Collection’s exhibitions have examined subjects as diverse as the relationship between war and medicine, the history of human enhancement, the dynamics at play between doctors and patients, and the study of human happiness. We are now looking for a Curator to join the Exhibitions team on a fixed term (18 month) basis to play a key role in this ground-breaking programme for our galleries based on Euston Road in central London.
What will I be doing?
As a Curator in Exhibitions team you will be:
- Taking lead curatorial ownership for a specific exhibition project scheduled to open in Spring 2024
- Working closely with the Senior Curators and Head of Exhibitions to shape an innovative exhibition that embodies our dedication to anti-racism and anti-ableism and can reach new audiences.
- Acting as a representative for Wellcome Collection, helping to communicate our mission and priorities and cultivating relationships with partners, colleagues and collaborators.
We are looking for someone with experience of:
- Researching, curating, interpreting, and managing exhibitions, including artistic commissions.
- Communicating complex ideas with creative flare to wide audiences.
- Knowledge of contemporary art and science, and an interest in the culture of health and diverse social histories.
Please note flexible working hours or job-shares will be considered for this role.
