LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Reporting to the Curator and Department Head, Wallis Annenberg Photography Department, and also working directly with the Associate Curator of Decorative Arts and Design, the Curatorial Assistant will assist in the research and coordination of a multi-disciplinary exhibition on the evolution of digital manipulation in graphic design, photography and visual effects from the late twentieth-century through the present. This is a part time, one-year position with the possibility of renewal through December 2024.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the exhibition checklist and storyboards to track exhibition developments and artwork information
- Primary and secondary source research, including archival image and film research for the exhibition and catalogue. This may require visits to Southern California archives and libraries
- Corresponding with artists and lenders to confirm object details and display requirements
- Scheduling appointments with artists, scholars, and research institutions
- Compiling documents for lenders, potential venues, funders, and other stakeholders
- Coordinating with other museum departments such as registration, publications, conservation and exhibition design to facilitate exhibition and catalogue planning
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Design History, Visual Studies, Film/Media Studies, or a related field.
- At least one year of administrative and/or research experience, preferably in a museum setting
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Experience with Google Workspace software and TMS or other museum collection software a plus
