Chazen Museum of Art
The Chazen Museum Education Coordinator oversees aspects of the museum tour program to include scheduling visits, coordinating logistics with museum staff, and communicating with educators. The Education Coordinator is also responsible for oversight of the Chazen’s registered student organization, the Chazen Ambassadors, in planning and facilitating student events. This role also works closely with the Event Coordinator to ensure public programs run seamlessly.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides administrative support to a department or group of professionals in support of unit goals under direct supervision
- 50% Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations
- 5% Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures
- 5% Tracks, stocks, orders, and inventories office supplies to ensure adequate materials are available for workplace operation
- 20% Serves as first point of contact for individuals and groups providing basic organizational information via phone, in person, and through other communication mediums, routing more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities
- 10% Provide guidance to Registered Student Organization, the Chazen Ambassadors, on student engagement, event planning, and event promotion.
- 5% Assists in the planning, facilitation, set-up and clean-up of education programs such as UW-Madison Family Weekend, Grandparents University, Art Spin, etc..
- 5% Performs on-site event set-up and clean up.
EDUCATION:
Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree
BA in arts, education, or museum studies is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 1 year experience in education or arts-related positions, including coordination of public events and logistics scheduling.
- Strong computer skills including competency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate with diverse stakeholder.
- Excellent organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, and attention to detai.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems in flexible, creative way.
- Demonstrated ability to conceive of and plan a program, meeting, or event from start to finish.
Preferred:
- 1 year experience leading group activities in an educational setting.
- Experience scheduling and organizing meetings, tours, or events.
- Experience evaluating, reviewing, or tracking activities.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Design programs including Photoshop.
