About MUMA
Monash University Museum of Art | MUMA is a leading public art museum and dynamic site for contemporary art, art-led education and research. Located in the distinct Art, Design and Architecture precinct of Monash University’s Caulfield campus, MUMA brings art and audiences together through a diverse program of exhibitions, commissions, publishing, public programming, and education, and through custodianship of the Monash University Collection, one of Australia’s most important and accessible collections of contemporary Australian art.
About you
Success in this role will flow from your in-depth knowledge of Australian art history and practice, including First Nations art and culture, artists and institutions, curatorial theory and practice, and broad knowledge of international contemporary art.
With your well-established and extensive professional networks of relationships and alliances with leading artists, curators, galleries and art institutions, you will help shape the development and lead the delivery of MUMA’s artistic program, while establishing and strengthening the museum’s relationships and key partnerships.
The Opportunity
MUMA is seeking a Senior Curator to provide high-level advice to the Director on the artistic program, strategic development, management and governance of the Monash University Museum of Art.
Working with the Director and curatorial team, you will develop MUMA’s curatorial vision and its delivery through innovative and engaging exhibitions, commissions, public programs, education initiatives and publishing, both on and off campus.
In this role you will also be involved in the development of the Monash University Collection, contributing research and supporting programs which enable its utilisation in teaching and learning.
MUMA’s success is built on its relationships and collaborations, and as the Senior Curator you will play a critical role in connecting the museum with like-minded peers, nationally and internationally, as well as within the University, and specifically with the Faculty of Art Design & Architecture.
