Disability Arts Online is very excited to offer a new role for an ambitious, experienced Communications Manager to join our friendly and dedicated team, as part of the Senior Management. You will lead on internal and external communications to ensure we reach as many people as we can through our work. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to make this role their own.
As with the nature of a small-scale organisation with big ambitions, you will be as happy working on strategy as you are getting stuck into the detail and delivery. With a dynamic workload including all aspects of communications you will develop and grow our audiences, and market our digital content covering all artforms across the country and beyond.
DAO was awarded capital funding in May 2022 to completely redevelop the DAO website and digital infrastructure to include a new digital exhibition space. The recent uplift awarded DAO as an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation from 2023-26, enables us to offer this post as a full time position, with a remit to promote the new online gallery space alongside a dedicated curator. Having the chance to help shape the new website and updated brand, it is a truly exciting time to become part of Disability Arts Online’s future.
The Communications Manager will work from home, with some travel expected as part of the role for events and meetings.
Disability Arts Online is an organisation led by disabled people committed to increasing the representation of disabled workers in the arts and cultural workforce. As such it is vital that our senior management team is fully representative of the communities we serve. For this reason we will prioritise interview places for disabled people* who make strong applications, meeting all the essential criteria.
We acknowledge that institutional racism, discrimination and inequality exists in our sector and we are particularly seeking to recruit disabled people with lived experience of racism into our team. We are proactively working on anti-racism in our programme, and we have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion and ensuring our staff, Board and volunteers are representative of the communities we serve.
*Following the social model of disability, we define a disabled person as anyone who faces disabling barriers. These can be related to impairment (sensory, physical or mental), long-term illness or health issue. This also includes those who identify as D/deaf, neurodivergent or have experienced mental health issues.
How to apply: Send a CV and cover letter (max two sides of A4) detailing why you want the job and your suitability for the role as required by the person specification/job description. We can also accept video or audio versions of your cover letter (up to 8 minutes long). Send this to work@disabilityarts.online with your completed equal opportunities form.
Deadline for applications: 12 December 2022 9am
