Think City’s Culture-Based Economic Development programme aims to build an interconnected network of cultural assets within and between cities, which aims to preserve and leverage heritage as a catalyst for local socio-economic development. We focus on conservation, adaptive reuse and museology. This includes preparing dilapidation surveys, strategic master plans, and conceptual design as the basis of reference for interventions, restoration, adapted space use, and curation of museums—increasing the value of heritage assets and connecting heritage building owners to new businesses so that these buildings have new relevance in modern life.

You will be responsible in conceptualizing and ideation, managing museum projects and relevant stakeholders, and assisting in programming activities. You will get opportunities to be exposed to rich cultural heritage and work closely with our local and international experts, partners, and local community.

You will be based in Kuala Lumpur or George Town, Penang, Malaysia.

Responsibilities include:

Researching museology, history, preservation and archive
Leading museum-related projects in Malaysia
Leading programming activities related to the museums
Managing key stakeholders/clients and liaising with government authorities
Reporting periodically by synthesizing findings, outcomes and recommendations to relevant stakeholders/clients via written reports and presentations
Assisting in business development by preparing proposals and pitch decks
Managing educative site tours in museums
Conducting site visits and site assessments

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in Museology/ Anthropology/ Art History/ Humanities/ Science or related studies

Minimum years of experience

Minimum 5-7 years of work experience

Kind of Experience

Exposure or keen interest in cultural heritage and development
Exposure to museum or curation processes and experience working with museum or gallery
Experience in managing museology-related projects
Strong local/and international networks and ability to build new networks
Verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
