Job Summary
The cohort of SCMA Post-Baccalaureate Fellows in Museum Education, Curatorial, and Communications offer recent college graduates the opportunity to learn about the museum field through direct professional experience. Across their 2-year terms, Fellows participate fully as critical members of their individual departments—learning about and supporting a range of initiatives vital to the museum’s mission. Fellows will also have structured opportunities to develop original projects and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities both across the museum and beyond its walls. As part of this in-depth experience, Fellows are mentored both individually and as a cohort, with the goal of supporting fellows’ growth and development.
The Sacerdote Fellow in Museum Education will work with the museum education team to support audience learning and public programming by supporting the creation and implementation of co-curricular experiences for Smith students, contribute to gallery teaching for K-12 and undergraduate student audiences, conduct audience evaluation and research, and contribute to interpretive planning.
The Marketing and Communications Fellow will work closely with the museum’s Communications staff. They will assist with coordinating the museum’s annual report; developing marketing materials and digital assets related to SCMA exhibitions; and helping to promote, coordinate, and staff major programs offered by the museum. The Fellow will also help research, draft, and issue announcements on a wide variety of topics, from new acquisitions to special exhibitions.
The Bodnar Curatorial Fellow will support the broad range of programs and activities undertaken by the Curatorial Department, including assisting in specific exhibition projects and the management, research, access, and record-keeping on works of art in the four curatorial divisions; Prints, Drawings, and Photographs; Painting and Sculpture; Asian Art; and Contemporary Art. They will coordinate and write for the Museum blog, and participate in the planning and implementation of collections-based student programs and initiatives.
All fellows will take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
