The Collection Information and Library department of the Van Gogh Museum provides information for its own organization and for researchers outside the museum about the collection. In our core information systems we store information, provide it with metadata and make it available as optimally as possible. One of these systems is the digital asset management system. For this system we are looking for a DAM Manager / Functional Administrator. It is a new role within the organization that you can shape yourself.
As a DAM Manager you help the Van Gogh Museum to manage and make accessible its rich collection of digital assets in the broad sense of the word. You supervise the systems and processes used for taking, describing, sustainably storing and making available digital images of Van Gogh’s artworks and contemporaries and archive material, but also materials from Marketing and Communication and Education. You work closely with the application manager and the Collection Information Manager. You also take care of the functional management of the DAM System, and function as a backup for the functional manager of the other information systems.
What are you going to do?
As a DAM Manager within the Collection Information and Library department, you are part of an enthusiastic and ambitious team responsible for management, the findability and coherence of information in the various sources of information. Where possible, we use the most modern techniques. The availability of the right information from the single-source-of-truth idea is a strategic starting point for information management at the Van Gogh Museum.
- As an ambassador you like to enter the organization, looking for treasures and ( her ) usable information.
- You are the first point of contact for the storage, description and provision of digital assets for the entire organization.
- You participate in the selection and implementation of a new DAM System to be determined.
- You develop processes so that other departments deliver their material as optimally as possible, where possible with the correct metadata.
- You maintain and develop the DAM System and have adjustments made or do ( partly ) itself, in collaboration with the application manager.
- You maintain contacts with the supplier.
- You make files available for publication in different channels.
- You build and maintain the metadata model and filters in collaboration with the Collection Information Manager.
Who are you?
We are looking for a proactive colleague who will bring the following:
- HBO / WO work and thinking level.
- Interest in the heritage domain is an advantage.
- Knowledge of and experience with a wide variety of digital assets in a DAM.
- You make the DAM part of existing or new processes.
- You contribute to the vision and policy surrounding digital asset management.
- You have knowledge of different types of meta data standards, both generic and domain specific.
- Experience working with digital systems and content enrichment tools.
- An understanding of and strong interest in digital sustainability.
- You think in terms of process optimization.
- You have experience with project-based work.
- You like to work together.
- You can make connections well and distinguish between main and side issues.
- You work efficiently and according to a realistic plan and set the right priorities.
- Excellent command of Dutch and English.
