M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design, and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. We are building one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District. Job Description
We are currently seeking applications for a short-term contract of less than 12 months for the following position:
Learning and Interpretation Assistant
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation and coordination of learning programmes for a diverse range of audiences, including children and families, young people, adults, senior adults, and other community members from diverse backgrounds
- Assist in the development and delivery of public programmes such as workshops, in-gallery activities, talks and conversations, and performances with a focus on visual art, design, architecture, and moving image for individual adult audiences
- Conduct research in learning and teaching pedagogy, visual culture learning, educator development, in-gallery learning experience, and outreach strategies to offer a range of learning activities that allow for expanded participation for museum audiences
- Build and maintain good relationships with internal departments and external collaborators and partners
- Assist with administrative, logistics, and coordination support for the Learning and Interpretation team in all events and activities
Qualifications:
- Possess a recognised university degree, preferably in Museum Education, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Fine Arts, Design, Architecture, Moving Images, Creative Media, Cultural Management, Humanity or equivalent
- Have at least 2 years of work experience in assisting with the implementation of learning and interpretation programmes, preferably in an art and cultural organisation; candidates with less than 2 years of work experience but with relevant and strong background might also be considered
- Have a strong interest in audience engagement and communication with audiences from different backgrounds
- Be highly organised, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently and cooperatively with others in a fast-paced environment
- Have strong project coordination skills, research skills, problem-solving skills, as well as administrative skills
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese
