Overview
Queer|Art seeks a Development Manager to lead fundraising initiatives for its artist-centric organization. With a focus on LGBTQ+ artists’ empowerment, Queer|Art provides opportunities and resources for personal, creative, and professional growth. The Development Manager will collaborate closely with Co-Directors, arts administrators, and the Board of Directors to drive fundraising in this rapidly growing non-profit.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Donor Engagement (50%)
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of Queer|Art’s mission, values, and programs for persuasive donor materials.
- Engage and steward existing donors through regular outreach and in-person interactions.
- Identify and research new funding prospects, implementing solicitation strategies.
- Prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals and reports in collaboration with programs staff.
2. Strategy and Operations (50%)
- Manage gift processing and data entry in Little Green Light (fundraising database).
- Create an annual Development calendar in collaboration with Co-Directors and Development Associate.
- Ensure timely acknowledgments and proper recognition of donors.
- Assist with donor relationship management, scheduling meetings, tracking engagement, and special tasks.
- Develop a new physical mail management system suitable for remote work.
- Handle invoices, donor acknowledgments, and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Values aligned with community-building and LGBTQ+ culture support.
- At least two years of fundraising experience, preferably in arts organizations, securing substantial funding.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable with diverse personalities.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and fundraising CRM (Little Green Light).
- Meticulous attention to administrative detail.
Working Conditions
- Remote position with regular in-person engagement around New York City.
