Job Title: Deputy Director
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours and place of work: Full time, 40 hours a week with paid lunch breaks
Working hours: Standard hours are 10 – 6pm, however we have a flexible approach to working from home and the role will require working occasional evenings and Saturdays.
Salary: £34,000 – 36,000, depending on experience
Ideal Start date: Week commencing 23 October 2023, subject to candidate notice period and/or other projects and commitments.

Introduction to Peer
Peer, situated in Hoxton, East London, is a not-for-profit contemporary art space. Our initiatives revolve around artists, local communities, and young people, showcasing a vibrant array of exhibitions, talks, events, and offsite projects. Role Overview
The Deputy Director supports Peer’s operational management, focusing on financial management, fundraising, and organizational efficiency. The role encompasses:
Management and Compliance
- Efficient daily administration and business plan management.
- Ensuring compliance with legal obligations and policies.
- Promoting best practices and environmental responsibility.
Operations
- Overseeing building operations, health & safety, and maintenance.
- Managing administrative systems, including HR and intern recruitment.
- Supervising the Gallery and Communications Assistant.
Governance
- Administering board meetings and annual submissions to regulatory bodies.
- Ensuring adherence to governance standards and environmental actions.
Finance
- Managing budgets, producing management accounts, and handling finances.
- Collaborating with the Bookkeeper and external accountant.
Fundraising and Management of Funds
- Developing and implementing fundraising strategies.
- Managing relationships with funders, identifying new funding sources.
- Drafting funding applications and ensuring compliance with funding bodies.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of financial experience, including budgeting.
- Familiarity with UK arts funding and fundraising.
- Experience in statutory accounts preparation.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Adobe on Mac.
