Position Details
- Salary: £36,200 pro rata (0.6 FTE, £14,480)
- Duration: 1-year fixed term (with extension possibility)

Introduction
We invite you to join us for the role of Fundraising and Development Manager at esea contemporary. This dynamic position is crucial in driving innovative fundraising approaches across all facets of our work. The role involves generating income through fundraising activities and strategically nurturing relationships to meet esea contemporary’s financial objectives. By engaging with business, corporate and private donors, patrons, trusts, foundations, and public grant-making bodies, you will work closely with the Director to attain financial targets and secure sustainable funding sources for our mission.
Key Responsibilities
As the Fundraising and Development Manager, your key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Fundraising: Collaborate with the Director to execute a targeted trust and grant application program aligned with esea contemporary’s fundraising strategy.
- Compelling Bids: Develop, write, and deliver high-quality, tailored funding bids in line with our strategic vision.
- Cost Allocation: Work closely with the Director and Finance Manager to accurately determine costs and ensure proper cost recovery for funding proposals.
- Prospective Funders: Research and identify potential funders in the UK and abroad.
- Project Alignment: Collaborate with colleagues to identify projects suitable for trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies.
- Reporting: Prepare reports on secured income, expected income from pending applications, and potential income for future projects.
- Funder Relations: Maintain trust and foundation relationships through effective communication with relevant contacts.
- Networking: Act as an ambassador for esea contemporary, fostering relationships with donors, trustees, and other stakeholders.
- Team Support: Proactively support and enable team members within our ambitious arts organization.
Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate with:
- Experience in fundraising, including securing funds from public sector sources such as Arts Council England.
- Knowledge of the arts funding landscape.
- Experience and knowledge of working in an arts/cultural organization.
- Demonstrable experience in achieving income targets.
- Excellent networking and communication skills, both face-to-face and in written correspondence.
- Strong presentation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proactive and organized work approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Understanding of evaluation methods and experience in reporting to funding bodies.
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate who can:
- Conduct traditional fundraising activities, including Trusts and Foundations applications, corporate support, and sponsorship aligned with our vision and values.
- Collaborate with the Director and Finance Manager to evaluate income-generating opportunities based on a strategic fundraising review.
- Support esea contemporary’s communications regarding fundraising through our website, bulletin, and social media.
