Introduction
We are excited to announce the open call for the Hyperallergic Journalism Fellowship for Curators, generously supported by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation. This annual fellowship aims to empower five curators with a $5,000 grant each to facilitate their research and writing endeavors. The goal is to demystify curatorial work for a broader audience while honing their journalistic skills.
Fellowship Details
Fellows will collaborate closely with our editorial team to expand their research and contribute two articles to Hyperallergic. They will also engage in a recorded online event and create an accessible online exhibition. We encourage curators to adopt an experimental approach when designing their exhibitions, reaching out to Hyperallergic’s extensive online audience.
Fellowship Period
This year, we will host all five fellows from November to January, with events scheduled for February or March. We seek self-driven individuals with a clear project vision to apply.
Eligibility
Both established and emerging curators with at least two years of post-college experience are welcome to apply. We value transparency about your project’s scope, planned exhibition, and how sharing it with the public aligns with your objectives. Priority will be given to proposals with concrete plans for future exhibitions. Whether you represent a renowned museum or a grassroots art space, all venues will be considered equally. We encourage curators to involve multiple artists in their projects rather than focusing on just one.
Application Requirements
In your cover letter (up to 300 words), introduce yourself, outline your research area, and describe your intended approach to presenting it to the public. Include any relevant links related to your project. Additionally, please use the provided form to upload three pertinent images. If you need to upload audio or video files, please compress them into a zip file.
