The Art Explora foundation, in partnership with Cité internationale des arts, hosts approximately twenty artists and researchers from around the world annually. This program provides a unique opportunity for artists and artist collectives to engage in research and creative work in the heart of Paris, connecting with the French art and professional community.
Application
Two Programs Offered
The residency program encourages participants to develop projects addressing contemporary issues, spanning new technologies, the intersection of art and science, and environmental, political, and social matters.

- Designed for artist collectives
- 3-month residency
- (4 sessions per year)
Note: No final project submission is required at the end of the residency.

Eligibility
Both programs are open to artists and researchers of all nationalities, with no age restrictions. Eligible applicants must have a minimum of five years of professional experience. The selection committee evaluates candidates based on their professional background, the project’s quality, its relevance to the residency’s theme (art & science, exploration), and the significance of conducting research in France.

Studio-Apartments in Montmartre
Each resident enjoys the following benefits:
- A 3 or 6-month residency at Cité internationale des arts in Montmartre
- A studio-apartment, approximately 50m2 in size, fully equipped and furnished, with a double bed
- A monthly grant of 1,000 euros
- A production grant of up to 3,000 euros
- Round-trip travel to the residence
Note: For the Artists Collective program, only one studio-apartment is available (a bedroom with a double bed, a workspace, a kitchen, and a bathroom), which can be shared among collective members. The living grant is provided solely to the resident housed at Cité internationale des arts de Montmartre, while a shared production grant supports the project.
