OUR PEOPLE

At SAM, we develop cultural leaders who make the world better. Our people are united by a shared belief in the power and necessity of art, and work together to create meaningful experiences for our visitors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and contribute to scholarship on contemporary visual art and design, with a focus on interdisciplinary practices and discourses within local and global contexts.
  • Contribute to institutional goals and policies of collection building and access (including development of a digital platform) to enrich and extend knowledge on design in art.
  • Curate collaborative and cross-disciplinary projects and programmes, from conceptualisation, negotiations with artists, designers, external institutions and stakeholders, to the co-ordination of production.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in the field through sharing of knowledge at conferences, talks and in publishing.
  • Foster professional networks with contemporary artists, design communities and partners.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with collections managers, conservators and colleagues in collection development and preservation.
  • Manage, supervise and administer projects, processes and procedures under his/her responsibility.
  • Handle ad-hoc assignments as and when required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree in contemporary art, graphic design, media or related fields.
  • At least five years’ of relevant research and experience in curation, collections and exhibitions.
  • Strong interest in and specialized knowledge of contemporary art and design practices in Singapore and Asia.
  • Excellent research, writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English. Additional language abilities would be ideal.
  • Good project management and organisational skills.
  • Attentive to details and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
